Another XenaFest (#12!) is history

I'll have pictures up later today, but we held our 12th Annual Southern California Xena Fest on Saturday, July 20th. The last public Xena Fest was SCXF6, back in 2001, and they've been private gatherings since then.

This year I displayed my three charity-auction obtained Xena props as well as set up a "gauntlet" of original Xena comic book art, mostly cover art. We decorated the upper gallergy with a variety of props from the show and treated ourselves to Anne's excellent slow-roated pulled pork. I made an apricot hefeweisen beer specifically fro this gathering and we watched a few X:WP episodes. One friend brought by the pilot episode of Footballers' Wives -- Lucy was gorgeous and the consensus of everyone who watched the pilot was that it should have been picked up by a network.

Like over 8 million people, I managed to read Harry Potter 7 this weekend, after everyone had left on Sunday (we had a number of sleepover guests and a big breakfast together on Sunday morning). Like Joss Whedon, J.K. Rowling knows how to end a great series with a bang and not disappoint their intensely-devoted fans. It's too bad that Xena fans didn't get the same respect.

Check back later for photos, but here is a photo from last year, sent to me by Lucia C. -- I managed to grab a few Xena prop weapons and arm everyone for the photo. Check out Lucia's other great Xena-themed graphics and the Xena Dollie travelog at her website: http://www.correacreations.com
