Here's a blatant example of image theft off a web site. This stamp collection should be renamed "The Clogston Collection" as I own ALL of these paintings, having bought them privately and directly from the artists who created them.
A Xena friend, Cousin Liz, hosted the images on her web site for a short time. Naively, I thought I was giving Xena fans a chance to see what some of the published art looked like without all the titles and other copy all over them.
And naturally, they were stolen to make a sheet of Xena stamps for Xena fans to purchase. The individual artist's copyrights were violated and how do I know that? I contacted the artists and they each told me that they did not give the stamp company permission to reproduce the images. And in some cases, such as for Terese Nielsen's X:WP covers, the reproduction rights belong to Topps.
So when you see these on ebay or online at your "friendly" stamp vendor, just remember that these are pirated images that did not benefit the artists who created them. And buying the stamps allow you to participate personally in this instance of image theft.
