An End of an Era

Barbara Arms, the publisher of The Xena Prop House Newsletter recently announced the end of the publication in a private email to collectors. I want to publicly thank her for her selfless service to the Xena/Hercules prop collector community for over 6 years. Barbie has been an amazing prop and costume research resource to the collector community and she has been steadfastly committed to help reduce the fraud that collector communities often face.

It was truly wonderful to get to meet Barbie in person at the 2008 Xena Convention in Burbank where we did a presentation on prop and costume collecting (wow, has it already been 5 years?). Barbie's focus has long been on the differences in props and costumes made for the TV show and replicas and reproductions that have flooded the collector market. Her method was good research and communicating with others in the collector community; Barbie knew from the beginning that putting our heads together and sharing information was the best way to educate and (hopefully) protect each of us from being scammed by an unscrupulous or misinformed seller.

Thank you, Barbie, for everything you have done!

By the way, MaryD has five years' worth the Xena Prop House Newsletter on her site, and they are still very good resources for collectors.

Happy Hunting!
