One of the most interesting Xena paintings I own is up for auction over at ComicLink.com. (Auction starts tonight at 10PM Eastern. ComicLink auctions are usually 3 weeks long, so there's no rush).
"Xena vs. Callisto" by Dave DeVries was published in various ways:
Originally, it was published in the (Titan 1998) Official X:WP Magazine #2 – as a 2-pg spread.
Later, an edited version of the image was issued by Another Universe as a “lithograph” (image was flipped horizontally and character image sizes were altered; artist’s signature was removed and image size is bigger than original).
The artist’s original version is also reproduced in Topps’ X:WP Trading Card Series 1 set with most of the green filtered out.
The painting is in vibrant acrylics and ink, art is approximately 19.5 x 10.75” on Strathmore Watercolor board. See all three versions of the art below.
And, of course, the enduring mystery is, "where is Callisto's other arm?"
